Headaches
Headaches are rarely due to one factor alone. They can be influenced by our diet, hydration levels, sleep hygiene, cardiovascular health, social or work stressors and sometimes even genetics. What we most often see as Osteopath's are headaches brought on by biomechanical referral, this usually stems from irritation, muscular tightness or joint restriction of the upper neck or jaw.
Depending on the suspected cause of your headaches, our hands on approach to treatment will often focus on your neck as well as any related structures such as your jaw, shoulders or upper back. In addition we will always look for ways to minimise the effect of any lifestyle factors that may be influencing the onset of your headaches.
Some common types of headaches we see and treat are:
- Tension Headache (often stress related)
- Migraine
- Cervicogenic Headache (a referred headache related to an upper neck dysfunction)
- TMJ Dysfunction Related Headache
